PRAY FOR FAMILIES Family holds a special place in God’s heart. It’s the vital and foundational unity of society. God’s Word makes it clear that families play a central role in disseminating the tenets of our faith to the next generation. Loving homes model virtues such as sacrifice, patience and unconditional love to a watching world, and committed marriages exemplify Christ’s devotion to His Church. The institution of family in the culture is facing intense perse- cution. Incidences of divorce, infidelity and abuse are on the rise. Pray for building and restoration of family by the power of the gospel. Seek God for harvest of gospel-centered homes in every neighborhood, they will image Christ in a crooked and depraved generation. Pray for our elected leaders and the members of our judicial system to be advocates of healthy families built upon godly principles. Pray for families to know and love God: Christian household to love and obey God. Honor and treasure God’s Word. Make it their mission to teach and model Christ-centered living to generations to come. (Deuteronomy 6: 6-7) Protection from the evil one. Renew families with active and working praying life. Don’t let Satan deceive and distract them from seeking You. (Colossians 4:2) Grow in the capacity to love and forgive. Their homes will be a place that demonstrate selfless love, and submission to one another in Christ. (Ephesians 5)
Heavenly Father, we ask that You bless our public transportation workers — the drivers of trucks and buses, pilots of planes and ships, and railroad engineers. We pray for these men and women, whom we often take for granted, who are the invisible but essential link for our community. We thank you for their service especially during this fearful time. We remember those who have lost their lives in their duty during this pandemic. In Your mercy, comfort their family; give them living hope through Your Son Jesus. (1 Peter 1:3)
Gracious Father, we praise You, the Giver of all gifts, we want to lift up all the artists in our nation. With theaters closed and performances cancelled, deliver artists who are in financial and/or emotional hardship. For Jesus-followers in the art industry, give them creativity to image You in their work; enable them to integrate arts with faith. Make them marketplace priest to make disciples of all nations. (Matthew 28:18-20)
Father God, we cry out to You for orphans. According to Holt International, around the world, more than 140 million kids have lost one or both parents. Many kids have survived incredible poverty, hardship, loss, exploitation and neglect. They live in the world’s toughest places. O Lord, You are the helper of the fatherless and You defend the oppressed. Adoption and sponsorship have been affected by the pandemic. Help us devote to pray and seek ways to care for children without a home. (Psalm 10:18)
Father of all comfort, on this sabbath day we remember missionaries in restricted areas. Give them rest, make them lie down in Your green pastures. Comfort them when they are heavy laden by exhaustion and disappointment. During this pandemic, keep them safe in Your watchful care. Pray that they will be strong in the Lord, be faithful herald of good news. Many lost souls, even at risk of persecution, will call on the name of the Lord and be saved. (Romans 10:12)
We lift up mental health workers who are responding to a substantial uptick in calls since the outbreak began. In Your grace, encourage the mental health workers with Your compassion and unfailing love. Equip them to provide helpful counsel and hope-building relationships. May You comfort the downcast and heal their diseases. (Psalm 103:2-3)
Pray for the process to develop a safe and effective vaccine for COVID-19. Based on WHO report, over 120 vaccines have been proposed across the world, currently six vaccines are in clinical evaluation. God of wisdom, bless medical scientists and researchers around the world. Give them insight and skill, dedication and fortitude. Their work will yield knowledge and understanding of an all-knowing God. (Proverbs 9:10)
