NEWS AND UPDATES

Chinese Language Program Registration Begins

Praise the Lord that the CEFC Chinese Language Program(CLP) will resume in-person classes for the coming school year and registration begins TODAY. Enrollment age starts at around 6. We offer both Cantonese and Mandarin classes. Classes are on Saturdays from 9:15 to 11:15 AM. Tuition for each semester (about 5 months) is $275. If you are a CEFC church member,  you will get half off the tuition fee!

We are recruiting both Mandarin and Cantonese teachers tojoin our serving team. Our mission is to serve our community through teaching of the Chinese language and sow seeds of the gospel through our service and friendship building. If you or you know people who may be interested, please contact usinfochineseprogram@cefcla.org.

Beyond the Walls (community)

At CEFCLA, we believe in being an active and positive force in our community locally. We are living in times where there is need everywhere you look, and we continually strive to be helping our community beyond the walls of our church building.  Here are a few opportunities that you can help!

The low income community was greatly impacted by COVID and the amount of families visiting food distribution centers have increased.  Among the increased number of visitors are Chinese and many are monolingual Mandarin or Cantonese. These food distribution centers currently don’t have any staff who speak Asian languages.  They need Mandarin and/or Cantonese speaking volunteers.

Volunteer Days:

Location 1Our Savior Center (4368 Santa Anita Ave. El Monte)

Dates:  Tuesdays and Thursdays 9-1PM

Location 2:  San Juan Diego Center (4171 North Tyler Avenue, El Monte)

Dates:  Wednesdays and Thursdays 9-12PM

If you are interested, please email communityconcern@cefcla.org and we will connect you with the coordinator.

Missions. Kurdistan STM
Please be in prayer for Harrison Cheung who has left on a STM to the Kurdistan region in Iraq. From 7/15 to 8/2, he will be a member of a team sponsored by Habibi International whose goal is to establish relationships and connections with local refugee camps, teach English as a medium to reach families of these camps, maintain and mentor local workers with whom they have a long standing relationship. Harrison’s primary role is logistics and support, as well as documenting and planning events.

Some prayer items:
  • Planning & preparation of agenda, logistics, equipment
  • Hearts of the team to be loving and cooperative
  • Hearts of the local people to be open and receptive
  • Spiritual preparation & protection from spiritual warfare
  • Travel safety due to Covid delta variant surge
  • Travel safety in terms of government laws
  • Adequate financial support
Brothers and sisters can support him financially, with checks to CEFCLA, memo: Harrison mission trip.

How to pray for us
:
  • Pray for unity of the Spirit among the STM workers. CEFCLA rep: Danny Cheng.
  • Pray God to prepare hearts of the residents and remove obstacles for them to join our service projects.
  • Pray for this STM to bear fruit for His kingdom.
  • Pray for open doors as we seek His guidance to explore and learn cultural immersion within local communities.
  • Pray for wisdom to learn and understand how to establish a Muslim background believers support group/church.
  • Pray the Holy Spirit to lead our team members to live out a life worthy of His calling, devoted to prayer.
Missions. Digital Missions Project

This summer we’re embarking on a new way to be missional with a Digital Missions Project! From June 21 – July 30, we will be designing and producing a children’s booklet about unreached people groups who have not had access to the Gospel. Unlike a traditional short term missions trip, our cohort will not be flying anywhere but working from home, learning and researching Frontier People Groups and then illustrating character designs. Our goal is to provide a resource for families and youth to learn about missions and to pray for these people groups.

We’d love your support through prayer and financially so you can contact
Ben (benkevtong@gmail.com) or Addison (addisonb1220@gmail.com)

Our Mission

We glorify God by spreading the Gospel through words, deeds and relationships transformed by the Gospel –
from ourselves, to our families, our city and the ends of the earth.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Thank you for visiting our church!

Checking out a church for the first time can be intimidating or confusing. It’s our goal to make your first-time experience at CEFC as easy and hassle-free as possible. Expect to meet people of diverse background, be connected and journey together to know Christ and make Him known.  We are serving our community through three languages (English, Cantonese & Mandarin) for all ages.  It’s our desire and joy to see everyone grow together in the love of God, and be built up through this church family.

In our effort to stay connected with you, please take a moment to fill out a Connect Card.  We would like to follow-up with you and help you find ways to get connected in our community.
